The purple and blue slashes of bluebonnets in a large landscape painting are the first colors to catch your eye upstairs at the Fielder House museum. Then you notice the beautiful red color in the roses of another painting.
These are some of the vibrant works featured in a new exhibit, titled "Generations: Texas Masters Robert and Julian Onderdonk."
Arlington resident Pete Rainone, who is serving as exhibit curator, wanted to include the Onderdonk's work in the museum. "He said the Fielder House reminded him of Onderdork's home in San Antonio," said Geraldine Mills, executive director of the museum.
Julian Onderdonk is considered one of Texas' greatest landscape painters, while Robert Onderdonk is known as the "Dean of Texas Painters." The latter is best-known for The Fall of the Alamo.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays at the museum, 1616 W. Abram St.
Call the museum at 817-460-4001 or Rainone Galleries at 817-461-5666 for after-hours viewings or group tours. Admission is $5 per person.
The exhibit continues through Aug. 31.

Film star: Local singer Blaine Gray has been busy lately.
Not only does he have a real day job, but he also performs at venues throughout North Texas at night and on weekends. Lately, he's also been in Austin working on the independent film Ex-terminators.
Touted as a "black dramedy," the film includes actors Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Settle, Joey Lauren Adams and Amber Heard.
The film's plot follows three women who meet in an anger-management therapy group and decide to form a traditional business using very untraditional methods.
Gray reportedly has two songs that will appear in the film. He also has three lines in the movie -- which makes him a working actor.
No release date has been set for the movie, which just started filming last month.
