Lots going on off the tube

Star-Telegram staff writer

This weekend, some interesting TV things are happening off the air. Consider:

James Callis and Aaron Douglas, also known as Gaius Baltar and Galen Tyrol of Battlestar Galactica, are among the scheduled guests at this weekend's FedCon USA, which runs today through Sunday at the Hyatt Regency DFW, on International Parkway at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. For more information, log onto www.fedconusa.com. Also scheduled to attend: Richard Hatch, who has a recurring role in the new Battlestar and starred in the original. Battlestar also airs its midseason finale at 9 tonight on SCIFI.

Proving, once again, that a vampire/private detective isn't dying without a fight, Moonlight fans will have a save-the-show rally and blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Thanksgiving Square, 1650 Pacific Ave. in Dallas. This is one of many rallies being held simultaneously in major cities nationwide in an effort to revive the drama, which was canceled by CBS, and it happens to fall on World Blood Donor Day. For more information, visit www.moonlight-united.com and www.moonlightline.com

Jesse Plemons, a Dallas native who plays hapless but unsinkable Landry Clarke on Friday Night Lights, is expected to participate in Walk Now for Autism Dallas/Fort Worth. Plemons supports autism causes to honor his mother, who works with autistic students in the Waco area. The walk starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington; registration begins at 8:30 a.m. For information, log onto www.walknowforautism.org and click "Dallas/Ft. Worth."

And, on TV, Waxahachie's Jeremiah Richey and his singing partner, Nick Brownell of Sandusky, Ohio, have made it to the finale of Can You Duet. The two-hour finale airs at 7 tonight on CMT.
