Feeling peachy? Stop in for a cool treat.

    July is firecracker season.

    But it’s also peach season.

    Weatherford’s peach festival is next weekend. But homemade peach ice cream is ready at Curly’s Frozen Custard or the Ridgmar Farmers Market in Fort Worth.

    Curly’s serves homemade frozen peach custard every July. Try it mixed with blueberries as a "peach very berry"; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, 4017 Camp Bowie Blvd., 817-763-8700, www.curlysfrozencustard.com.

    The Ridgmar Farmers Market is a barbecue restaurant, bakery and produce stand selling peach soft-serve ice cream and fresh peaches by the bushel. It’s at 900 Alta Mere Drive (Texas 183), west of Ridgmar mall; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, 817-246-7525.

    Also, the oft-noted Malt Shop in Weatherford serves hand-cranked peach ice cream; 9:45 a.m.-9:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, noon-9:30 p.m. Sundays, 2028 Fort Worth Highway, 817-594-2524.

    New hotels bring new restaurants to Fort Worth and Arlington this weekend.

    Shula’s 347 Grill, serving breakfast, lunch and "Shula cut" steaks named for former Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula, is open inside the Sheraton Fort Worth; 6 a.m.-11 p.m., 1701 Commerce St., 817-870-2700, www.shulas.com, reserve at www.opentable.com.

    Dallas lost a chain restaurant and gained a great new Middle Eastern hangout.
